Finding the Best Network Marketing Business Is Up to You (Lessons 5-6)

To make sure you are investing in the best network marketing business, make sure that you get objective information about their operations. Avoid being influenced by people who have a financial stake in whether you sign on the dotted line - you should see their opinions as biased.

Lesson 5 - Read Testimonials

Invest only in businesses that display believable written testimonials from people who have succeeded with the business.

Use your gut. Look at the people who claim that they are making thousands a week or month. Are they regular people? That’s a good sign. I especially like seeing people who come from professions of leadership and authority such as former regulators or law enforcement officials.

Or are the testimonials coming from professional network marketers who merely had to plug the product/service into their pre-existing marketing system?

Google the names behind the testimonials just to be sure. I once saw a top producer in the industry offering a testimonial about the tens of thousands of dollars he made with a product in “just the second week!”

Well, even with the best network marketing training and support, if you are a beginner you’re probably going to have to get over a hump before you see results similar to that.

Lesson 6 - Do Your Due Diligence

Due diligence is a set of business practices that you will use to confirm for yourself that a business you are about to invest in is legal and will live up to its promises.

While it is true that every investment requires a leap of faith to some degree or other, there’s nothing that says this faith has to be blind. There are some things that should not be left up to chance.

Enter the name of the business into a search engine to see what's being said about it and the leaders behind its success. If all that you are finding are opinions, as opposed to actual regulatory problems, make sure that you are getting balanced viewpoints. Sometimes the people who fail are the loudest critics, and we all know that there are many reasons why people fail.

Then, check the Better Business Bureau and make sure that there aren’t significant complaints about the network marketing product or business in which you are thinking of investing.

You can see actual written complaints in the Ripoff Report. The Better Business Bureau won’t disclose the substance of complaints so you can’t get a sense of how grievous the conduct was, or whether it is relevant to how you would be working with the company.

Even the best network marketing business can have a BBB strike against it. Anyone can. I once considered hiring a law firm that was being sued by one of its former employees for a back pay issue. I don’t really think I cared about that.
