Networking in Business (Lessons 9-10)
There is nothing quite like personal networking in business. With so many different pitches and strong minded opinions bombarding you at every turn, it helps to find a friendly voice in the wilderness of confusion. Here are some ways that even the most shy and apprehensive people can give their quest for online business success the personal touch.
Lesson 9 - Seek Mentoring
I have found it better not to wait for willing mentors to come to me. Instead, I shopped for them like I shop for anything else on the Web. I suggest that you do the same.
Industry Mentors. My strategy was to keep an eye out for Youtube videos and MySpace pages created by people who already prioritize networking in business as one of their strategies.
You can find these marketers by entering the name of any online business into a search engine. Recently, they seem to pop up most when you enter the name of a business opportunity and then scam? right after it - you then learn that the advertiser is loyal to the business, but the wording gets you intrigued enough to click!
It's low hanging fruit to talk to these people because they are just waiting for calls -- it's a part of their business strategy. Spend some time picking their brains. Let them teach you their tricks and strategies.
When calling people who market themselves online, I always try to have specific questions to ask. That way, I don't feel as if what they are telling me is something out of a sales script. I like on-the-spot, unique perspectives.
Don’t feel as if you have to buy what they are selling. Just be respectful of their time. It is an ego boost to be thought of as an expert, so when you ask people for advice they are usually more than willing to give it to you - even if they are busy.
Mentors in Your Company. You can also find mentors within the various online business organizations that you join. They may take some finding -- look for outgoing types, such as lecturers at training programs or successful sellers.
Try getting some opinions of consultants who are not necessarily network marketing leaders generally, but who have still advanced with their own businesses. Remember that in this business there are always more people willing to help than you think.
Lesson 10 - Socialize with Like-Minded People
Don’t listen to people who don’t own their own businesses when trying to create your own. They are tremendous noisemakers.
One of the unique characteristics of entrepreneurs is a pioneering mindset. Many people are not hard wired to be pioneers, so don’t expect them to support you at first.
Instead, join a local money club or investment club. These organizations make networking in business a priority. Joining in with people who are on the same or similar path as you is a great way to develop your prosperity mindset.
Think of your decision to go into online network marketing as your little rebellion. Ally yourself with like minded people and share most of your business concerns and questions with them until you are turning a profit.
Then, when your business is successful you can watch all of those same naysayers turn around and ask you to teach them how to do it! Won’t that be the sweetest reward?
